Windows ReadyBoost technology will help increase the performance of your PC by using the storage on your USB drive or Memory Stick as additional system Random Access Memory (RAM). It is an easy way to expand the RAM on your PC without the hassle and expense of installing additional RAM. This technology is only available for Windows Vista operating systems. Essentially random access times from ReadyBoost compatible USB drives are 80 -100 times faster than from traditional hard disks, this allows your system to respond faster and improves its performance.
Not all USB drives are ReadyBoost compatible, make sure your device states that it is 'Enhanced for Windows ReadyBoost'.
When a Readyboost compatible USB drive is inserted into a Windows Vista PC the following window should appear. This window will give you the choice of using your drive as storage only or to speed up your system using ReadyBoost. If you choose the 'Speed up my system option' you can still allocate an amount to be used for normal storage purposes.

The Following screen will allow you to choose how much of the USB drives capacity you would like to allocate for ReadyBoost. A minimum of 256MB up to a maximum of 4GB can be used for this purpose.
